Storied Design: Frankie & Sue
About Kids' Fashion has a soft spot for BFF fashion teams like Carol Duffy and Alicia Wasberg, the duo behind Frankie & Sue. Here's their story:
Frankie & Sue was started by two best friends who created a bond while studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and decided to take their dreams of their own clothing line to the sunny ocean side of Santa Monica. It is the product of two girls with a clear vision in wanting to create a stylish, trendy, and comfortable clothing line for girls. The name Frankie & Sue derives from the combination of the owner’s middle names & is also a representation of two very different ideas of what style is. Carol “Frankie” was the epitome of a tomboy with her blonde bowl cut & brother’s hand-me-downs. Alicia “Sue” was the definition of a girly girl, always in dresses that matched her brown ringlets & shiny bow shoes. When creating the brand their goal was to offer clothing that appeals to both ends of the spectrum & everything in between. The brand strives to create a feeling of California bohemian style with large prints and colorful combinations. Frankie & Sue prides itself on being sewn here not flown here, having all garments 100% made in Los Angeles, CA.
Frankie & Sue’s SS15 collection is true to the brand's mission (and right on trend) with bold retro florals and California-cool “tube sock” stripes. Easy pieces like the ruffly Cher Dress versatile Hannah Hoodie are destined to become summer staples. The line is available in sizes 2-8.
Take a look at our picks:
1. Frankie & Sue Cher Dress
Winged shoulders and a ruffle hem gives the Cher dress a fun Carmen Miranda meets mermaid vibe. We love it in the Pink Multi Stripe & Blue colorway.
Composition: 95% Cotton 3% Rayon 2% Spandex
